Manchester United correspondent Samuel Luckhurst has provided an update on the ankle injury Raphael Varane picked up against Manchester City on Sunday.

He said that âsourcesâ have described Varane’s injury as ânot badâ, however, United will be âcautiousâ due to the Frenchmanâs injury problems last season.

The Verdict: Good news
It looks as if Varane has avoided any serious ligament damage with his injury thought to be ânot badâ, so that is a positive update. The defender also reportedly drove himself to Carrington on Monday, which again, is a good sign.
However, United have a quick turnaround with a trip to Cyprus to take on Omonia Nicosia on Thursday in the Europa League.
Therefore, it could be wise to leave the Frenchman at home, giving him extra time to recover to possibly return against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
